The Yankees were never in on Jonathan Sanchez
Yesterday, Jon Heyman tweeted that the Yankees were disappointed that Jonathan Sanchez went to the Royals.
Apparently (with a tip of the cap to Giants Win), that’s not the case:
The Yankees’ prime directive this winter is adding pitching, but they were never in on trade talks for lefty Jonathan Sanchez, who the Giants traded to the Kansas City earlier this week for Melky Cabrera, Yanks’ GM Brian Cashman said.

Sounds like a quick favor for Boras to get the shiv in from Heyman to me. It didn’t make any sense because the Yanks have clinged to their prospects for years now, and they aren’t trading Gardner, Swisher or Granderson for J. Sanchez. Boras loves to control where his guys go, he was most likely pissed Dirty ended in KC without being consulted. Heyman is not a reliable source, but he does seem to have a lot of info on Boras clients. Wink.
