Via Extra Baggs:

After days of waiting, Carlos Beltran will go on the DL today, I have learned. He’s eligible to return when the Giants open a homestand a week from today. Will he be ready then? Who the heck knows. I’m done predicting.

Miguel Tejada did not report to Double-A Richmond to start a rehab assignment. Instead, the Giants activated him.

Well, the DL trips just continue. Carlos Beltran, who has been battling a hand injury for some time now, has been placed on the 15-day DL, with Miguel Tejada activated to take his spot on the 25-man roster.

Tejada hit the DL back in mid-July with a lower abdominal strain, and has ultimately had an awful season — he’s currently hitting .242/.274/.334 on the season, and his range at shortstop leaves a lot to be desired. ZiPS projects a rest-of-season line of .273/.309/.375 for the 37-year-old.

Beltran’s time with the Giants has also been disappointing (so far, at least), as he’s hit .244/.261/.356 in 46 plate appearances. Hopefully he’ll start hitting once he returns…
