Founded in August of 2010, Giants Nirvana, formerly Splashing Pumpkins, is a San Francisco Giants Blog featuring SF Giants analysis, opinions, links, and all that good stuff.

We’re sabermetrically-inclined, meaning we rarely cite pitchers’ win-loss records, or hitters’ RBI totals (because those are generally inefficient metrics for evaluating players). Instead, you’ll often see us using statistics like FIP, ERA+, and wins above replacement, which sound a lot more complicated than they actually are.

Why is the blog called Giants Nirvana? Because I’m not very good at naming blogs.

One Response to About

  1. I am a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. When we are over there we pass the time talking about our hopes, dreams, and what we want to do when we return to the United States. After my first tour I realized that when soldiers returned home most did not follow their dreams because the stressers of the real world got in the way. When we started discussing our dreams on my second tour I vowed not to let mine slip by. My dream is to visit all 30 ballparks in one summer. I want to see the country that I served for. I will be blogging and vlogging my entire trip. Is there any tips you can give me about your ballpark? IS there anytips you can give me on my blog? all help is greatly appreciated.
